Super Bad Rock Show

New Art School presents

Charlie Pickett
Die Stinkin
Psycho Daisies
The Freakin Hott
Remnants

There are a few reasons you should go this show:

A: Charlie Pickett is an original voice of post-punk, alt-country, and the current iteration of plain old rock and roll. First performing with the Eggs in the 80's, Charlie's current band includes Eddie O'Brien (the Eat), Mike Vullo (Roosterhead, Dillenger's, Funkabilly Playboys, etc etc) and the inimitable Johnny Salton (MC3, The Reactions, Psycho Daisies). Stack these guys up against anyone, and I mean anyone, and they match 'em. Did I mention that Charlie was on twin/tone records? (that's the label the replacements were on, for those that don't know) Fans of Gun Club, The Replacements, Wilco should not miss this rare show from one of Miami's top sons.

B: Thee Die Stinkin - It started out many moons ago and involved a bouncy house, 4 chocolate chip cookies, a gallon of goats blood, a 12 sided di, and the brain of harrison ford. Put it all together and you got die stinkin!

C: The Psycho Daisies are Miami's answer to guitar intense psych/mod/rock founded in the 80's by former Reactions member and sometimes Charlie Pickett co-conspirator, John Salton. These guys now feature Jilly Jill on bass, Bobby Load (Southern Flaw, Load) on drums, Billy Ritchie on keys, Lisa (Screaming Sneakers) on vox, and the man himself John Salton on guitar and vox. Rumor has it that when the Replacements kicked Bob Stinson out of the band, they were considering replacing him with Johnny but decided against it for non-musical reasons. The band can flat out play.

D: The Freakin' Hott are from Palm Beach county. Drawing comparisons to the Pixies, X, and Joan Jett due to the stripped down instrumentation, call and answer male-female vocals and harmonies, and edgy presence The Freakin Hott have made quite a wave in the South Florida music scene. They were named “best new band” by the Sun-Sentinel in 2003, “readers choice: best rock band” by the New Times in 2004 (an award which they have been nominated for again in 2005), featured in a cover story by City Link in the summer of 2004 (who called them “South Florida’s sexiest musical couple”), and defeated 5 other select local acts in the 2005 “Champions of Rock” battle of the bands hosted by the National Production Group. They have also opened for national acts such as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, The Black Crowes, Velvet Revolver, Hoobastank, and Travis Morrison (of The Dismemberment Plan), Saturday Looks Good To Me, and Troubled Hubble.
